Independent, eclectic, and discerning, Owl in the Attic Books is a small online bookstore located in a book-filled house on the traditional lands of the Puyallup Tribe in the city of Tacoma, WA.
Owl in the Attic has been selling used, rare, and worthwhile books and art since 2024. Our inventory consists of around 1,000 items across a wide variety of genres. We are fastidious about the condition of our books and pack every order with care.
A curated collection of titles populate our shelves. Some are personally meaningful and others are hard to find or eagerly collected.
The personal: We love poetry. Our taste skews queer and feminist. We love finding old manuals for handicrafts or books full of useful knowledge about skills of the home and garden.
Almost all of our offerings are used ? some are vintage or antique ? but we are selective and take particular care to accurately represent their condition in the listings.

Owl in the Attic Books prioritizes the safety of your orders in transit. All books are carefully wrapped in paper and/or bubblewrap and then packaged in boxes or sturdy cardboard mailers, with appropriate filler. Additional care is taken with orders traveling internationally. This is a small store and our business cannot compete with large-scale sellers who receive subsidized shipping rates. Instead, we offer superior packaging and accurately described products, sold by booklovers to booklovers.
Books will ship in 1-3 business days from order receipt. Domestic economy shipping is USPS Ground, which tends to deliver to the continental U.S. in 3 to 5 business days. All orders are insured. For heavier orders where the Media Mail rate could offer substantial savings, please message us to see if that is a possibility.
