Ungava

undated but inscription dated 1915 inside front cover. From the Boys Own Library, this is a "tale of esquimaux land" set in North America. This book is poingnant both from the date of the inscription and also of the 6 engraved illustrations by the Dalziel brothers ( of Alice in Wonderland fame) that depict turn of the century scenes, of seals/walrusses on icebergs, supper in the "snowhouse" a husky and sledge scene and most horribly two eskimos lookig chuffed having killed a polar bear. One of these has become detatched, also one otehr page detatched and lacks tile page. All other pages clean and tight within binding. Brown cloth covers over printed with blakc and gold , clean but scuffed at spine edge. Still a remarkable book. Note that to send outside Europe will incur extra shipping due to weight.
