United Middle School

Strange things are happening at United Middle School, and when the fire alarm goes off without any fire, it's just the beginning. Jake, Emily, Amy, and Max-four curious friends and sharp investigators-team up to crack the mysteries that leave everyone else stumped.

From disappearing lunches to a prank war that spirals out of control, and even a teacher who mysteriously turns into a kid, these young detectives are ready to face whatever oddities come their way. But when they uncover secret rooms, vanishing artwork, and a traveling notebook with clues of its own, they realize some mysteries are bigger than they imagined.

With their wits, teamwork, and a little luck, can they solve all the puzzles hiding in the hallways of United Middle? One thing's for sure-there's no such thing as an ordinary day when the young investigators are on the case!

E. J. Rohly grew up on a farm in rural Ohio, where her imagination had plenty of room to run wild. As a kid, she loved making up stories-especially when she babysat and could share her tales with the kids she watched. Sometimes, she even let them produce their own endings! Making up stories is still one of her favorite things to do.

After teacher training, Esther became a preschool teacher, creating engaging learning experiences. As her family grew, she took literature classes to get better at writing, hoping to write her own books. Now, she is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and continues to learn new things through writing classes. Today, she is busy writing mysteries and adventures to spark imagination, just like her own love of stories sparked years ago on her family's farm.
