In red boards with gilt type and decoration. The spine is a bit frayed at the top and bottom, also a bit dark with age or soil, and the corners and edges exhibit wear. There's a faint aroma of tobacco smoke. The same lovely decorations as appear on the front cover are embossed on the back cover, but appear never to have seen the ink or gilt that is on the front. A previous owner's name is written in a fine Victorian hand in the front of the book, which is otherwise unmarked. The hinges are cracked at front and back but the binding is still sound.
