Lovely two-color title pages. Illustrated with beautiful photogravures on Japan vellum, etchings hand painted India-plate reproductions,with labeled tissue guard. Full color frontis of Spinoza Instructing D'Acosta. Impressive and elaborate gilt, red, blue and rose numbered cerificate, signed by the Editorial Director. Text is clean and tight, no marks, lightly and evenly tanned. Baruch Spinoza was a Dutch philosopher of Portuguese Sephardic Jewish origin. One of the foremost exponents of 17th-century Rationalism and one of the early and seminal thinkers of the Enlightenment. Introduction by Frank Sewall. Translated from the Latin by R.H.M. Elwes.
