Green cloth with pasted paper label to slightly darkened spine. Moderate shelfwear head of spine, bottom edge of rear cover rubbed to board. Titles have faded completely from label, while author name is still visable, and there is rubbing to edges. Top edge gilt. Lovely rough cut edge. A large number of the pages have never been cut. Sadly, this book has been remainder marked with a red marker, top and bottom outside edges. Does not effect text. Lovely two-color title pages, Illus trated with beautiful photogravures on Japan vellum, etchings hand painted India-plate reproductions, all with labeled tissue guards. Frontis and two other illustrations. Text is clean and tight, no marks, lightly and evenly toned. Translated from t he Arabic with introduction and biographical notes by E.J.W. Gibb.
