Green w/pasted paper label to spine. Shelfwear head and heel. Titles have faded completely from label, while author name is still visable, and there is rubbing to edges. Top edge gilt. Lovely rough cut edge. A number of the pag es have never been cut. Sadly, this book has been remainder marked with a red marker, top and bottom outside edges. Does not effect text. Lovely two-color title pages, Illustrated with beautiful photogravures on Japan vellum, etchings hand painted India-plate reproductions, and full page portraits of the authors, all with labeled tissue guards. Frontis and one other illustration. Text is clean and tight, no marks, lightly and evenly toned. Being the Lettres Persanes, by Charles Louis, Baron d e Montesquieu, translated and introduced by John Davidson, and The Citizen of the World by Oliver Goldsmith.
