University of Georgia Football: An Interactive Guide to the World of Sports

The first SEC Football Program to be featured in the new, exciting, and completely original Sports by the Numbers series!

THE TEAM: The Georgia Bulldogs are the most beloved, tradition-rich football program in college athletics. Five national championships, two Heisman Trophy winners, 66 All-Americans, 360 All-SEC selections, winners of every major college playing honor, and party to three of the greatest football rivalries ever – The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry (Auburn), the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party (Florida), and the Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate (Georgia Tech)– makes nearly every Bulldog game a bowl game. From the “Dream and Wonder Team” to the Point-A-Minute Dawgs, from Dooley’s Junkyard Dogs and the “Wonderdogs,” to “Tailback U” with the legendary Herschel Walker and Uga the Bulldog, to the new Golden Era of Mark Richt, it is all here. The Sports by the Numbers franchise unlocks the storied history of UGA football for anyone who wondered what it would be like to play Between the Hedges.

THE FORMAT: The presentation created by the authors distinguishes Sports by the Numbers from everything else available today. University of Georgia Football is composed of ten chapters, each offering one hundred numbered “mini-stories”—facts, anomalies, records, coincidences, and enthralling lore and trivia. Each chapter begins with an introduction that highlights the many exciting stories detailed in that chapter.

INTERACTIVE: Numerical entries tagged with SBTN-All Star or SBTN-Hall of Fame logos are scattered throughout this book. These logos indicate that more information is available at our web site www.sportsbythenumbers.com. Readers and sports fans can then visit our site and participate in the SBTN blogs and conversations regarding those numbers, creating an interactive community.

Sports by the Numbers books are not just for diehard sports fans, but for every fan and sports history reader who loves sports and wants to know more about their heroes and favorite teams.
