Stereo card with label on back: "Julius M. Wendt, Photographer and Publisher of Stereoscopic Views." Very light age soil. Pin-prick-size indentations to photos overall, which may not be visible here. A dramatic bird’s-eye view of an unnamed racetrack, taken from near a tall cupola and flagpole. Possibly Elmira, New York, since it came with other Elmira stereographs. Or Albany? Of special interest for 2 reasons. (1) The close-up of vernacular wooden architecture, with a small grandstand beyond. (2) The Roman rider straddling two cantering horses on the inside rail, and the other ridden horses on the outside rail, leaving behind plumes of dust. Possibly a race, but perhaps not because they are mostly hugging the outside. A parade of trick riders??? Julius M. Wendt was also part of the Wendt Brothers firm.
