With essays and entries on furniture from the Chippendale and Hepplewhite eras, to pieces dating back to the American Colonial period, the catalogue details pieces from the author's collection, which were once housed throughout his spacious Philadelphia and New York City residences. The catalogue is organized by medium, and features color photography of all items discussed. Among the collection are rare oriental rugs, porcelain, paintings, and silver, as well as engravings, mezzotints, and etchings.
