About the Authors: Stephen Green was the chairman of HSBC between 2006 and 2010 and later was Minister of State for Trade and Investment. He has sat as a Conservative peer in the House of Lords since 2010.

Thomas Legg served as senior civil servant in the Ministry of Justice under three prime ministers between 1989 and 1999.

Martin Donnelly was Director-General for Economics in the Foreign Office and later Permanent Secretary of the Department for International Trade. He now holds the position of president for Boeing Europe.
