Urban Legends of Apologetics: 40 Common Misconceptions

“Philosophy has no place in Christian theology;” “No one becomes a Christian through apologetics;” “Apologetics is impractical for Christians.” These are just a few of the common misconceptions that are defended with almost as much vigor as the defense of the faith itself. Apologetics is a tool for evangelism, a strategy for offering answers to tough questions that often seem to dismantle a worldview. Apologetics is ultimately the defense of our hope in the faith, offering answers and explanations to skeptics and questioning unbelievers.

In Urban Legends of Apologetics, Douglas Groothuis highlights common misconceptions often held in the apologetics space. He not only addresses several of the common misconceptions that are held at the lay level, but he goes a step further in pointing to some of the misconceptions held at even the academic level. In this approachable volume, renowned apologist and Christian Philosopher, Douglas Groothuis addresses these common misconceptions to not simply offer correction, but to point to the hope in the faith we are called to defend.

Douglas Groothuis (Ph.D.) is Distinguished Research Professor of Apologetics and Christian Worldview at Cornerstone University.
