The authors describe the special characteristics of sci-tech print and nonprint information sources, and show how these sources can best serve the needs of both novice and experienced researchers. Included is a procedure for answering sci-tech reference questions followed by 12 of the most common information requests and how best to respond to them.

About the Author

ELLIS MOUNT, D.L.S., is president of Mount Data Services, Teaneck, New Jersey and editor of Sci-Tech News. Formerly, he was research scholar at Columbia University School of Library Service, New York, New York. He is a member of the Special Libraries Association (SLA), the American Society for Information Science, and the Association of Independent Information Professionals. He received the John Cotton Dana Award from SLA in 1984. In 1990, Dr. Mount was elected to the SLA Hall of Fame.

BEATRICE KOVACS is a professor in the Library Science-Education Technology Department, University of North Carolina, Greensboro.
