VISHAM: Narendra Modi

Narendra Modi is one of those politicians whose name prompts extremes of hate-filled anger or outright adulation. VISHAM will reveal hitherto unknown aspects of Narendra Modi's psyche: From his humble beginnings as an RSS pracharak to his rise in the Hindutva ranks, and from being Bharatiya Janata Party’s master planner to one of its most popular and controversial state chief ministers, Modi’s mantra of change and development is gradually finding many takers. Modi’s idea of Gujarati pride and Indian-ness and finally, his meteoric rise which gave him a distinct identity post the 2002 Godhra riots. Though he evokes vastly different reactions among the citizens for his alleged role during the Godhra aftermath, what is clear is that he indeed is racing towards the center stage, making the General Elections look more like a Presidential system – where you either vote for him or against him. And that, as they say, is the Modi effect.

I am a small man who wants to do big things for small people. I want my nation to be modified as a secure prosperous and dignified nation. Do you? – Narendra Modi
