Published in London in 1823 this is the Fourth edition of this excellent account of a visit to the Monastery of La Trappe, home of the Trappist's Monk order, and the surrounding countryside in France by Captain William Dorset Fellowes, THE MONASTERY OF LA TRAPPE La Trappe Abbey or La Grande Trappe is a monastery in Soligny-la-Trappe, Orne, France, The site of the famous La Trappe Abbey was for centuries isolated in a valley surrounded by forests, streams and lakes, 9 miles from Mortagne and 84 miles from Paris, in the Diocese of Séez and the former province of Normandy this is a Large Paper Copy with wide margins measuring 11.5 inches by 8 inches approx., bound in old decorative cloth with leather spine title label, internally BEAUTIFULLY ILLUSTRATED with FINE FULL PAGE PLATES CONDITION binding has some rubbing wear to the cloth at spine ends and corners else is in good general condition, internally some mild handling marks to a few pages else contents are in nice condition, this is a large heavy book which may require extra shipping costs above the standard quoted rate.…
