Contemporary vellum, each board with four blind-stamped & gilt fleur-de-lises in corners and one in the middle, varnished spine with manuscript title, coloured edges. [] Boards, end-papers, front and rear leaves wormholed, laces missing, front board and fly-leaves crumpled, paper in parts browned. Title with a handwritten provenance of the Prague Carmelitan convent. - Second edition (first one: Paris 1598) of the work by Jean Riolan the Elder (ca 1539-1606), 1586-1587 dean on the Medical Faculty in Paris, adherent of the old medicin and one of the most dogged opponents of the news introduced by the Paracelsists. - Hirsch VII, 36.
