The VTK Users's Guide is a companion text to The Visualization Toolkit text. While The Visualization Toolkit stresses algorithmic and data structure details, the VTK User's Guide stresses how to use the software.
As recognized leaders in visualization technology, Kitware works with several National Labs to extend VTK for processing huge data on massively parallel systems, and to develop an Open Source scientific visualization application (ParaView). Kitware is one of two primary architects of the National Library of Medicine's Insight Toolkit (ITK) for data segmentation and registration, and Kitware created the cross-platform configuration management tool CMake, which is used in both the VTK and ITK projects.
Kitware employs world-class visualization, graphics, and image processing experts who have presented papers, taught courses, and served on organizational committees for the top conferences in these areas including IEEE Visualization and ACM SIGGRAPH. This guide is part of a series of textbooks published by Kitware covering visualization technologies and software development.
