The editor, Bill Meisel, is founder and president of TMA Associates, a consulting and publishing firm that has specialized in the business impact of advanced speech technology and the changing role of the telephone. He is the publisher and editor of Speech Recognition Update and Telephone Strategy News newsletters. Meisel has over 25 years of experience in speech recognition, including ten years as the CEO of a speech recognition company he founded in 1982. He was also a professor at USC in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, wrote a textbook on pattern recognition and numerous articles, and managed the Computer Science Division of an engineering company. He is the Executive Director of the Applied Voice Input/Output Society (AVIOS), a 25-year-old non-profit organization. Meisel obtained his B.S. degree in Engineering from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California.
