Item description from seller

Not dated - circa 1950s. Edition and printing not known. In near fine smart dark red cloth boards, gilt titles to spine. The boards are firm, straight and clean; excellent for age. Bright burgundy coloured end papers. Tinted brown top cut edge; the fore and tail edges are slightly tanned. The text block is in near fine condition and looks unread, with unmarked, straight and quite tight pages. Name of previous owner on a Prelim and again on Contents page. With b/w illustrations by Harold Piffard, including frontispiece. Without jacket.

Store description

Clevedon Community Bookshop, co-operatively owned, opened on 31 December 2011 and now has a general stock of approximately 20,000 books. Our Bookshop is in Copse Road in Clevedon and is open every day of the week except Mondays, from 10.30am to 4.30pm. The Bookshop Co-operative comprises nearly 650 members from around the world and was set up to stop the only second-hand bookshop in our town from closing. The benefit of being a member/shareholder is only social: no-one benefits financially. All profits are used to improve the bookshop and its stock, and, through events, to contribute to the literacy and literary profile of our town.
