Critically edited and translated with an introduction and a description of the paintings. American Oriental Series Volume 46. The volume has 251 pages, 48 plates containing 83 figures, including a few in colour. Folio size. Green cloth boards with gilt titles - all in fine condition. Text unmarked and clean. William Norman Brown was Professor of Sanskrit at the University of Pennsylvania. Heestablished the first academic department of South Asian Studies in the U.S. and organized the American Oriental Society in 1926. The Vasanta Vilasa manuscript was acquired by the Freer Gallery of Art in 1932 and was the first and most important manuscript of the work discovered as of 1962.
