About this title

Synopsis

The majestic contours of the famous mansions of the late Italian Renaissance rise above the serene Venetian hillscape. They represent the wealth of powerful Venetians in the past. A Venetian Concert celebrates an era of undying beauty and the diversity of these creative monuments with fascinating images by acclaimed architectural photographers Paolo Marton, Florian Monheim, and many others. Music CDs: Four CDs span the divide between brash, worldly songs and the art of the madrigal, and sensitive chamber music by Lorenzo Ghielmi, the Ensemble del Riccio, and the Orlando di Lasso Ensemble.

About the Author

Florian Monheim studied graphic art in Braunschweig and photo design at the University for Applied Sciences in Dortmund, Germany. These two disciplines, and being the son of an architect, influenced him and led him to his passion—the photographic visualization of classical architecture and its relationship with the environment. With a keen eye for detail, he uses a big format camera to make the smallest detail visible. Having already established his own collection of distinctive architectural images, he founded his own specialized photo library, the Bildarchiv Monheim, in 1995, which has grown to be one of the leading libraries in the field of historical and modern architecture.
