Vengeance Is Mine

Daniel McClure's debut novel, VENGEANCE IS MINE, a work of southern fiction, is the character-driven story of Clack Collins, a larger-than-life Vietnam veteran and former success in the homebuilding industry, for whom the 2008 recession destroyed everything, including his marriage to a former U.S. congressman's daughter. It, too, is the lamentable struggle of Matt Hardy, a fresh-out-of-school preacher in the rural South Carolina town where Clack has retreated to both find work and drink his demons away. When the politics of a small southern town, spearheaded by one of Matt's own predecessors, work to derail the young cleric's good deeds and destroy his sweet family, he is pushed beyond what any good man can withstand and resorts to a plan that will forever invalidate his holy reputation. It is, however, the unlikely and often humorous friendship with Clack, a man guided by his own compass of justifiable war, that becomes Matt's own salvation.
