Version Control (The Genome Covenant)

The facts were never faked. Only rewritten.

Dr Ama Kusi knows that numbers can be manipulated. What she discovers is more dangerous: numbers that remain completely accurate while their meaning changes around them.

While reviewing the evidence behind a clinical programme, Ama finds the same patients appearing in incompatible “final” accounts. The source data are intact. The measurements are real. Yet subtle changes in definitions, classifications and interpretation turn failure into response—and uncertainty into evidence strong enough to influence regulators, payers and executives.

Following audit trails through committees, consultants, approval systems and hidden version histories, Ama uncovers an industry built not on fabricating evidence, but on deciding which version of the truth is allowed to travel.

As preservation orders expose old networks and institutional loyalties, the question becomes larger than one clinical trial. Who controls reality when every version is technically defensible?

Version Control is a tense biotech and medical conspiracy thriller about evidence, power, corporate influence and the institutions that decide what counts as truth.
