Neuware - Die Veste Coburg ist ein beeindruckendes Beispiel mittelalterlicher Burgenarchitektur und z�hlt zu den gr��ten ihrer Art in Deutschland. Gegr�ndet um 1225 und unter der Herrschaft der Henneberger um 1330 auf ihre heutige Gr��e von ca. 200 x 80 Metern erweitert, erlebte die Veste besonders im 16. Jahrhundert eine Bl�tezeit als kurs�chsisches Schloss. 1530 bot sie Martin Luther w�hrend des Augsburger Reichstags Schutz und Sicherheit. Nach der Errichtung des Coburger Stadtschlosses im 1540er-Jahren behielt die Veste ihre strategische Bedeutung als Landesfestung. Ihre Architektur spiegelt die politischen und konfessionellen Konflikte der Zeit wider - von den Hussitenkriegen �ber den Schmalkaldischen Krieg bis zum Drei�igj�hrigen Krieg. Im Zuge umfangreicher Sanierungen im 18. und 19. Jahrhundert wurde die Veste von den Herz�gen von Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha zu einem Denkmal der ernestinischen Geschichte. Heute sind die Kunstsammlungen der Veste ein bedeutendes kulturelles Erbe, das die Kunstgeschichte und Kultur der Region widerspiegelt.
