Veterans Gardening Guide: Promoting Allergy-Friendly Planting

The Veterans Gardening Guide is an energetic, positive, helpful resource for veterans, novice gardeners and garden enthusiasts. It will guide them in planting, pruning and year-round care for gardens that will help to improve the lives of individuals with allergies, asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Using the Ogren Plant Allergy Scale (OPALS), veteran horticulturist Peter Prakke provides lists of plants, shrubs and trees that are allergy-friendly. With these plants in mind, he sets out charts that guide best-practices and offers suggestions for a healthy mix of growth in your garden.

Written in an easy to read style that encourages participation and learning -- as opposed to perfection -- this handy reference guide provides inexpensive, eco-friendly ways to develop that robust and glorious garden you've always imagined.

Complete with a year-round gardening calendar, a thorough glossary of common gardening terms, and even a guide to health-promoting herb gardens, this guide encourages creativity and offers many options to explore all aspects of gardening in Canada and the United States.

Whether you are new to gardening or a seasoned professional, you'll find inspiration for your inner gardener in this guide.
