In the first part of the study, harmonic and seismic response of the single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) structure to which a passive and semi-active tuned mass friction damper (TMFD) is attached is investigated. Second part of the study focuses on the investigation of effectiveness of multiple tuned mass friction dampers (MTMFD) over a TMFD; here response of the multi-story structure and the bridge with TMFD is compared with response of the same structures with MTMFD. Dr Alka Y. Pisal is working as 'Assistant Professor' at the Department of Civil Engineering, D Y Patil College of Engineering, Akurdi, Pune. She has completed her doctoral studies at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB), under the guidance of Prof. R.S. Jangid. Her research interest includes Structural Dynamics & Earthquake Engineering.
