London: Bickers & Son, 1880. xi[i]+308p. 'With twelve illustrations in permanent photography from pictures by eminent British artists'. Occasional foxing. Owner's name of Rowland A.C. Sperling, a British diplomat, on blank page after front endpaper, with date of Easter 1887. Marbling to endpapers and all page edges. Bound in full leather, raised bands to spine, which has elaborate gilt decoration. Some wear to spine head and tail and corners. Upper board partly sunned.
