About the Author
Mari Frank, an attorney, professor, expert witness, and privacy and identity theft expert, in private practice in Laguna Niguel, California, has worked in the district attorney s office, practiced law in insurance defense, and has had a general civil law practice. Ms. Frank is a Certified Continuing Education Trainer for the State Bar of California, is a professor, and a sheriff reserve. As a privacy expert, Ms. Frank has authored the Identity Theft Survival Kit, From Victim to Victor: A Step-By-Step Guide For Ending The Nightmare of Identity Theft (First and Second Edition with CD), and Safeguard Your Identity: Protect Yourself With A Personal Privacy Audit, and Co-Authored Privacy Piracy with Beth Givens, the Director of the Privacy Rights Clearinghouse. Ms. Frank s own identity was assumed by an impostor who stole thousands of dollars,but Mari refused to be defeated as a victim; instead she chose to help thousands of victims with her web site, books, legislative work, and privacy advocacy. She has appeared on Dateline, 48 Hours, NBC, and ABC Nightly News, Investigative Reports, The O Reilly Factor, Connie Chung Tonight, dozens of other national television programs, and over 250 radio shows. She has been featured in the New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, U.S. News and World Report, Your Money Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The Chicago Tribune, The American Bar Journal, and many other national publications. Ms. Frank testified several times before the U.S. Senate, the California Legislature, the Federal Trade Commission, the Social Security Administration, and other agencies.
