About this Item
An uncommon work documenting the life of the sixteenth century saint. P. Marcel Bouix offers an account of the life of Saint Teresa in this leather bound volume. Published in French. Canonised in 1622 by Pope Gregory XV, the Carmelite nun was a central figure within a movement of spiritual and monastic renewal, and reformed the Carmelite Orders of both men and women. She was also a prominent Spanish mystic, and her writings explored spiritual experiences in relation of the ascent of the soul to God. Prior owner's bookplate to the front pastedown. From the library of The Convent of the Birds, a former house of the community of Augustinian Ladies known as Canonesses of Saint-Augustin of the Notre-Dame congregation. In a quarter calf binding over patterned boards. Externally, smart. Lightly rubbed to the spine. With a little bumping and rubbing to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with light foxing throughout. Very Good. Seller Inventory # 864N5
