The View from Mars

12 year-old Mars has always been an outsider, still hung up on things like delivering the perfect comeback to a kid who made fun of him--two years ago. Saddled with crippling anxiety about everything from marshmallows to his lack of athleticism, he has difficulty finding the courage to do anything...and things are about to get worse.

His mom has announced they are moving cross-country to Los Angeles, where he doesn't know a soul. Mars is resolved to one mission: facing his fears to rally both his bookish sister Barrie and selfish brother Sumo to get his parents back together again. But how?

And who would know that experience more than the co-authoring team of Daylen and Kai Larsen (age 12) and their socially awkward dad?

SETH LARSEN was born at an early age. Legendary jazz man, award-winning documentarian, avid unicyclist: he is none of those things. Seth is currently tolerated by his wife, Jacqueline, and their four children in La Cañada, CA.

DAYLEN LARSEN is a sixth grader at Paradise Canyon Elementary. He likes to gather his siblings and tell stories about what life was like back when he was his twin brother Kai's age, two minutes ago.

KAI LARSEN is a sixth grader at Paradise Canyon Elementary. He still puts his pants on one leg at a time, just like everyone else-not because he's humble; it's just because he's unclear how else you'd go about it.
