Saddle-stitched in blue pictorial wrappers. Issue of Henri Ford's important American-based Surrealist magazine (1940 1947) primarily devoted to the work of Max Ernst, and featuring a center-fold spread printed on pink paper containing an exhibition catalog of Ernst's work at the Valentine Gallery, March 23 April 11, 1942, with works by Henry Miller and Edgar Allen Poe bookending the center-fold. Additional contributors include Andre Breton, Sidney Janis, Leonora Carrington, Parker Tyler, Nicolas Calas, Julien Levy, and Ernst. From the library of Patty Mucha [Oldenburg]. Mucha has used purple pen on p. 32 to emphasize that Pavel Tchelitchew and Yves Tanguy will be the focus of the forthcoming issue of the magazine. Very good. Wrappers are soiled and stained with edge wear, though interior is clean.
