NEAR FINE condition. Tenth edition. Three volumes. Octavo. Contemporary tan full polished calf with gilt titles and very elaborate gilt tooling to spines. Typical age-spotting on covers. (See Pics.) Pages crisp and clean throughout. No names or book plates. Front hinge on Volume One slightly loose. Bindings lightly rubbed, with a few marks, and very mild bumping to corners. Tail of lower spine to volume III chipped (See pics). Top label of Volume I is laid in, as is top label of Volume II. This is Hallam's first published work of history, consisting of nine sections, each focusing on different regions or themes of the European Middle Ages. First published in 1818.
