THERE ARE NO TARIFFS OR CUSTOMS DUTIES ON BOOKS. Complete in 3 volumes. Half bound in leather, marbled paper. Five raised bands to spines, gilt titles and decoration. 1872. In fair to good condition, leather and paper rubbed, spines faded but binding solid and tight. Section of leather spine to Volume III is partially detached, cracked. Internally good, bright and clean. English historian Henry Hallam was educated at Eton and Christ Church, Oxford, he practised as a barrister on the Oxford circuit for some years before turning to history. His major works include View of the State of Europe during the Middle Ages (1818), The Constitutional History of England (1827), and Introduction to the Literature of Europe, in the Fifteenth, Sixteenth and Seventeenth Centuries (1837).
