Plum brown cloth boards with debossed border design is rubbed at edges, bumped at corners with some fraying, with fading to top 2/3 of back cover. Rubbed at joints with rear joint fraying and split at bottom 3" and top 1". Gilt cover illustration nice and bright, gilt spine titling and illustration dulled. Pencil inscription to FFEP dated 1873 and some pencil notations at rear pastedown with binder's stamp at bottom hinge Burn & Co. Kirby St. Internally overall very good, with some scattered foxing or faint soiling not interfering with prints. Binding tight with a very slight forward lean.
