Vigilante Virus

This medical thriller is set in the shadow of the nation's capitol and captures themes ripped from today's violent headlines -- the acts of rapists, murderers and child molesters. This is the story of a molecular biologist who takes the law into his own hands, of the monster he looses on the land and on himself, of the reporters and police who would try to put him away, and of his daughter who must make life-threatening personal decisions with global impact.

Born in Mississippi, R. Leland Waldrip migrated to northern Virginia in 1964 following military service. He spent ten years as a travelling salesman and thirty-two years as a computer analyst and software engineer, now is a full time author. The rigid disciplines of his computer career bring to his novels a logic of story, a clarity of style and expression developed in designing logic for large, complex computer software systems and writing technical manuals for them. But his novels have no outward resemblance to a computer program or instruction manual. They are vibrant stories of predator and prey, perpetrator and victim, hunter and quarry, as seen from the perspective of his life-long passion for observing the nature of man and beast and the environments they inhabit. Whether the novels are set in wilderness (The Last Grizzly), small western town and countryside (Anasazi Harvest), or polaroid, steel and concrete of the city (Vigilante Virus), his characters live and breathe --- and embroider his unique stories with vivid color and action.

Leland and wife Linda live in their log home near the Rappahannock River in northern Virginia where he spends his time hunting, fishing, camping, hiking with their Jack Russell Terriers, observing nature and writing.
