About this Item
DAICHES, David [169] pp. New Directions Books 1942 7 1/4" x 5" *dampstaining condition noted* Virginia Woolf is a brilliant wordsmith whose use of interior monologues and stream-of-consciousness will either genuinely fascinate and enthrall some readers or utterly intimidate and befuddle others. Her style can be very poetic, time-conscious (by which I mean she often compares real time to one's inner perception of it), evocative of place and feeling, sensitive, and delicate, but it can aso be confusing until the reader attunes him- or herself to it. In other words, her innovative use of language can be off-putting to those used to writing that is more direct and concrete. Nevertheless, she is rightly famous and deserves to be experienced by all who claim to be well-read, knowledgeable students of English literature. Seller Inventory # 19076
