Item description from seller

Lucy Peacock's most popular children's work Lucy Peacock's most popular work designed to teach children about life and morality. The late eighteenth century author wrote, adapted, and edited stories for children and young adults, often writing anonymously. The fourth edition of this work is undated. Dated using estimates of the University of Leicester library. Prior owner's bookplate to front pastedown. 'Egerton Parker'. In a full mottled calf binding. Externally, sound. Lightly rubbed to the boards and the spine, with a chip in the calf to the front joint. Splits in the calf at the joints, meaning the front joint and hinge are starting, and the rear hinge has nearly failed. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are a a little age-toned but clean throughout. Good.
