This copy is of interest due to the manuscript note on its front flyleaf by Museum of Comparative Zoology entomology curator Philip Jackson Darlington (1904-1983): "April 11, 1970, I am putting this book with our books on taxonomy because I think it is pertinent. Some coleopterists at least have (in the past and maybe still) been misled by visual illusions in doing descriptions and have very badly misstated the proportions of parts of beetles. P.J.D. [Stamped:] Department of Entomology, Museum of Comparative Zoology ; [written on inside front cover:] Ent. Dept., MCZ." The book is well worn, with peeling lamination on the binding, creased covers, and soil on outer edges; text clean. xxi, 252 p., illustrated.
