Synopsis:

In March of 1997, Ricky Kidd was wrongfully convicted and sentenced to life without the possibility of parole in one of Missouri's notorious maximum security prisons. The awful crime he was accused of was first degree murder. Even more awful was knowing that he was Innocent but still being sent to a place made for the guilty. For over twenty years Ricky has fought to prove his innocence, all while being shackled inside the dungeons of Injustice. He writes, “Few could ever handle their life being dismantled. Surrounded by total darkness without even so much as a candle. I was forced to become the light, illuminating everything in sight. I was forced to become the oxygen if ever I was to breathe again.” The pieces released in this book serve as a small window into what it's like to be innocent. Some are simple, others are profoundly provocative… A journey readers can take without ever having to leave their chairs.

About the Author: Ricky's passion for writing began when he was twelve years old. It started with poetry and by age 15 he had written two short plays. Since then, Ricky has gone on to write a children's book, short and long plays, movie scripts, fiction, nonfiction and naturally, poetry. With Vivid Expressions, Ricky has begun to release pages of his passion and with so much more to come, he hopes his writings will positively impact people's lives. Ricky's case has been picked up by the Midwest Innocent Project of UMKC. Together, many have joined the fight for Ricky's freedom. Including Kansas City Police Commissioner - Alvin Brooks, who believes strongly that the wrong person is in prison. Ricky's case has had write ups and features in the St. Louis American Newspaper, KSHB 41-Action News, The Kansas City Call Newspaper, The New York Daily News, The Popular News & Information website, Reddict, as well as 24 Media Network in Sweden.
