Vocabulary Acquisition in Preschool: Language Development in Young Children

In preschool, in the younger and middle classes, students must acquire a basic vocabulary. How can we promote this vocabulary acquisition among students in the younger and middle preschool classes? More specifically, do frequent repetition, connections to students' daily experiences, and a variety of specific activities facilitate the acquisition of vocabulary related to clothing in the younger and middle preschool classes? These are our research questions and our hypothesis. Throughout this book, we will strive to answer these questions through a teaching sequence focused on clothing vocabulary. Indeed, our learning approach incorporates specific sessions and cross-curricular applications while varying the learning situations to encourage student engagement. This teaching sequence is framed by two assessments; a comparison of the results generally validated our hypothesis while also revealing certain limitations.
