The work is designed for the English-speaking reader with either no, or limited, knowledge of German who wishes to form a connection with Rudolf Steiner’s original.

Armed with a knowledge of the actual vocabulary, the reader can actively deepen their understanding, and begin to see across and through the English language literary translations. This engagement can lead to a more direct appreciation of the rhythms and meanings of the original.
The focus is on beginning the study of the original by grasping its vocabulary. A short summary of key elements of the German language is also provided to help orient the reader to the overall text.
Rudolf Steiner was active at the beginning of the 20th century as the founder and leader of the anthroposophical movement, which developed out of his teachings and insights. His oeuvre comprises over 6,000 lectures and dozens of written works.
David Eyes is a lifelong student of anthroposophy and has served for a number of years on the core group of the Anthroposophical Society branch where he lives in Santa Cruz, California.
Ernst Lehrs was a young student when he first met Rudolf Steiner and his work, and became a leader in the anthroposophical youth movement. He migrated to England as a WWII refugee, and for many years, he taught at a Waldorf School there.
