Volcanic rifted margins form when continental lithosphere is ruptured to form new ocean basins. This book presents 12 recent papers on continental rifting and magmatism, large igneous provinces, Atlantic margin evolution, and Ar geochronology. Some specific topics are characteristics of volcanic rifted margins, crust and upper mantle structure in East Africa, development of the Lebombo rifted volcanic margin of southeast Africa, and extension and uplift of the northern Rio Grande rift.
