Volume 1 of an translation of the New Testament

This offering is a very old vintage copy of Volume 1 of a translation of the New Testament by Gilbert Wakefield. It's extremely rare and is NOT one of those beautifully bound leather reprint copies. The book was "Printed by A. Hamilton - for George Kearsley" in 1795. by It is a first printing copy of the Second Edition and was published in 1795. The First Edition was published in 1790 and both the first and second editions are were published in London. The Third Edition was published in 1820 and is referred to as the American Edition. Wakefield was a deacon in the Anglican Church who got disenchanted with the direction the Anglicans were heading so he became a Unitarian. (Included with the purchase of this book will be a copy of Unitarian Beliefs written by Arthur W. Olsen published in 1949.) The Translation of the New Testament Vol. I is 5 5/8" by 8 1/2" and has 412 beautifully preserved pages. They're NOT yellowing at all. The book IS a leather bound copy BUT!! the front cover is no longer attached to the spine. The rest of the book is in very good condition. It's NOT an ex-library copy.…
