"La voluntad" (1902) es la primera de las novelas de la trilog�a que dio la fama a su autor y a partir de la cual comenz� a firmar como "Azor�n". Desenga�ado de la fe en la acci�n pol�tica, trata en "La voluntad" la abulia extrema. Fue con esta trilog�a cuando comenz� a cuajar el concepto de generaci�n del 98. "La voluntad" carece de la estructura tradicional de la novela, pues por encima del argumento importan las disquisiciones filos�ficas, intercaladas con breves estampas de la ni�ez y juventud del autor.
