About the Author

Sally M. Walker is the author of many award-winning nonfiction books for young readers, including Secrets of a Civil War Submarine: Solving the Mysteries of the H.L. Hunley, which won the prestigious Robert F. Sibert Informational Book Medal in 2006. When she isn't busy writing or researching, Ms. Walker works as a children's literature consultant and presents at many reading conferences. She lives in DeKalb, Illinois, with her husband and cats.

Kevin Luthardt is the author of several children's picture books. His original murals decorate schools, libraries, and churches throughout his home state of Ilinois. He lives in the Chicago area with his wife and two sons.
