Tokyo 1982, Yushodo. Two volume set, blue & purple hand-made paper covered boards, in green hand-made paper covered Chi- tsu with bone pegs, pristine, as new, 18.5 x 26 cm., color & b.w photos, with 150 actual paper samples tipped in. SCARCE This is a major contribution to the study of hand-made Washi papers. With copious and large number of paper samples. Vol- ume 1 has 178 pages Japanese text, 21 color and 98 b. w. photos, 4 maps. Volume two contains the 150 superb handmade paper samples each ca. 11.5 x 15 cm. for most part, & others are a bit longer and larger, each is named in both Japanese & English, with the maker's name, and numbered. The papers range from every color to stenciled patterns, tye-died,thick thin, tissue, textured, embossed, and even one superb twine woven color cloth ! The breath and width is amazing as is the creativity found in each sample. Uniquely Japanese soph- isticated folk ! Contained in the original card board pro- tective box.
