Broadside. 29 x 22.5 cm. Old fold lines, with slight soiling along the folds. Order of exercises: I. Hymn by George Russell [printed in two columns]. II. Prayer by Rev. Daniel Sharp. III. Ode. By James Russell Lowell, Esq. To be sung by School Children. [8 verses, printed in two columns]. IV. Report of Hon. Natthan Hale in behalf of the Water Commissioners. V. Address by the Mayor VI. Water let on. VII. Chorus from the Oratorio of Elijah. The celebration marking the completion of the Cochituate Aqueduct to bring fresh water to Boston. The Brookline Reservoir was the terminus of the 15 mile aqueduct from Lake Cochituate. It was only the second major urban aqueduct in the U.S., the first was New York's Croton Aqueduct built six years earlier. A scarce Lowell piece, BAL 13067 state B (no priority) lists a handful.
