AUCTION SALE CATALOGUE. Folio. 8 x 12.5 inches. [8] pp. In cream patterned paper wrapper. Memorandum page with details completed in manuscript and receipted by six pence stamp. Old crease across centre, some foxing, largely confined to rear wrapper and a couple of small ink blots. Plan stained along centre fold of verso, barely affecting the main image; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by hand coloured 1/2500 folding plan, 19 x 15 inches. The land is sold in two lots; Lot 1 is 143 acres of Rich Grazing and Fatting Marsh Land, especially adaptable for dairy purposes with several buildings and yards, including standing for 100 or more cows, a four room looker's cottage, outhouses and 'a vast and valuable accumulation of beach.' Lot 2 is 'The Six Acres,' with an 'important frontage' on the Lower Wall Road from Bonnington to Hythe. The completed Memorandum attached to the catalogue indicates that it was the small Lot 2 that was sold, although it is stated: 'If Lot 1 is not sold this Lot will be withdrawn'; possibly it was sold and the sale recorded on another copy of the catalogue. Lot 2 was purchased by Albert George Chittenden of Cinderella Farm, West Hythe, Dairyman, for £480. The attached plan shows that George Chittenden (his name replaced by Albert on the Memorandum) held land adjoining Lot 2. The catalogue includes an attractive large scale plan in watercolour.
