3pp, printed on rectos only. Backed with pale blue paper [torn] and bound at the top margin. Old folds with light wear, Very Good. Founded during Reconstruction by Nathan Bedford Forrest of Tennessee, the Klan was badly weakened by the Grant Administration's vigorous enforcement of the Ku Klux Act of 1871 [42 USC 1983]. It re-emerged in 1915 exerted a powerful hold among many American Protestants, and garnered significant political influence in several States- - particularly Indiana- - outside the South. This document was to be recited by inductees into the Klan. They swore to "render at all times loyal respect and steadfast support to the Imperial Authority," and "yield prompt response to all summonses." They promise they will "forever keep sacredly secret the signs, words, and grip" of the Klan.
