Contemporary full leather; boards rubbed with some staining and bumped corners; spine decorated with five slightly raised bands delineating four gilt tooled compartments plus gilt lettering to brown title label and black vol.# label. All edges marbled. Marbled endpapers; mid-19th century Alexandria Virginia bookseller ticket for Robert Bell at front pastedown's top left; some foxing/toning and a few stains to interior leaves; bottom fore-edge corner of pages vii-viii chipped with text loss. Binding is firm. Still a handsome volume. Features "The Freeholder" No.31-55 (continued from preceding volume); "On the Christian Religion;" and "Letters.".
